2001 Bmw R1100 S,I am the second owner of this immaculate, well-maintained, responsibly ridden (never raced) BMW sport-tourer. I purchased it in 2002 from an older rider and I have had it since. I've put less than 1,000 miles on it in the past seven years and the total mileage is 5,200. Considering many BMWs don't even get broken in until 50k miles, this one is practically brand new! The reason I am selling it is that I obviously don't ride it that much and I'm about to have a baby, so there's going to be even less time. **PROBLEMS** None! I haven't had any real problems with the bike. The only thing I've had to repair is my fuel pump and that was replaced in Aug. The work was performed by a BMW dealer in Atlanta. If you do a search for reliability on this bike, you'll see that it is always given top marks on reliability, which I can confirm. The bike is in flawless condition; the only scratch worth mentioning is on the left cylinder head (shown in pix). That's the worst I can say about this bike. Now on to the good stuff. **WHAT I LIKE** (1) ABS Some like it, some don't. If you're still reading, then maybe you're one of the ones that do. I think it's amazing and really adds confidence to the ride. (2) Adjustable pre-load/rebound I appreciate the ability to customize the feel. (3) Boxer Motor Inherently counter-balanced, sounds awesome, it's smooth throughout the rev range, and allows the bike to have a lower center of gravity. (4) Solid Feel I'm not sure how to quantify this, but the bike just feels solid and well-built.There is a lot more to say about this bike, but these are some of the points that I think really make an impression. As far as upgrades, it has a brand new battery (Aug 2009), touring accessories (netting and saddle bag rails), and I have a matching armored riding jacket that I'll also sell if interested. It matches the bike and is barely worn. I'm 6'2, 180. **NOTE** Regarding the fuel pump mentioned above, that is a new BMW fuel pump replaced by a BMW dealer. They also replaced fuel filters and some minor things. The only thing I would recommend a new owner do is replace the rear tire - probably both to be safe - within a couple thousand miles. **SUMMARY** Ultimately, this bike is a flexible, reliable, and stylish machine that is equally comfortable on the track or on a touring trip. That's my opinion, not a blurb from a cycle mag. If you're looking for a pristine sport-tourer that has a definite sport look, this bike is for you. And my bike, in particular, has very low mileage, no maintenance issues, and will keep you happy and riding for a long time to come. By the way, insurance is very reasonable, too, since it is a BMW and it's not technically a sport bike. I have a clean driving record and pay less than $50 per month. $5800,
